Frequently Asked Questions

Restore your health and wellness

  • Can I get same day appointments?

We will see sick children the same day if needed. Physicals or Well Checks need to be scheduled in advance so that we can give your child enough time with the provider. Please call to schedule physicals several weeks ahead of time.

Keep in mind that most insurance plans allow only 1 “wellness" exam per year.

  • What do I do after hours if I have an urgent medical question?

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 9-1-1 or proceed to the nearest emergency room.

If you think someone has been poisoned, call the Texas Poison Center Network at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.

For after-hours instructions on common infant and childhood illnesses, contact the Methodist Hospital Ask-A-Nurse service 22-NURSE (210-226-8773). If you are instructed to contact your doctor, call our main number (512-392-1700) and follow the prompts to reach the physician on-call.

Our San Marcos office is open for emergent care on Saturday mornings, by appointment. When the schedule is full, we advise parents to take advantage of one of the several urgent care facilities in the area.

  • Do you take my insurance?

We take many insurance plans! It is always a good idea, however, to check with your individual insurance carrier to see if Corridor Primary Care Pediatrics is listed under their plan. If you have additional questions, please contact our billing department @ 512-392-1700.

  • How many providers do you have?

We have 10 board-certified pediatricians, and 1 certified pediatric nurse practitioner. Nurse Practitioners are board certified and are able to diagnose, treat, write prescriptions, and provide education on pediatric care.

  • Do I need to call my insurance company after my baby is
    born?

Yes, you must call your insurance company and notify your Human Resource Department as soon as possible to add your new baby. This must be done within 30 days of the child's birth. If you fail to do so, you may have to wait until the next open enrollment to add your child and would be responsible for any balances accrued. We ask that any new Medicaid patients call 211 and notify them of the baby's birth before you leave the hospital, to get the process started.

  • Prescription Refills

Each prescription refill notice should be made 3 business days in advance. Refill requests for non-controlled substances should be made to us by your pharmacy. Once your doctor approves the request your pharmacy will be notified.

Please note request for refills on controlled prescriptions prescribed to treat attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) must be requested by calling our office, please allow 3 business days.
